We are very excited to welcome our new trustee Amanda Jones. Amanda has over 20 years of experience in employment law and is Chair of the Scottish Government Women and Girls in Sport Advisory Board. Amanda will join our six existing trustees on the board to guide the organisation as we continue supporting women from Edinburgh and the Lothians into employment.
Amanda is a partner and Global Women’s Advancement Director for Dentons, the world’s largest law firm. Having practiced Employment and Discrimination law for over 20 years, she took up this newly created role last year. She was on the Board of the legacy firm Maclay Murray and Spens for over 5 years, and is the former Director of the Hibernian Football Club Limited and the Hibernian Community Foundation Limited. She has previously been a director of Lothian Racing Syndicate and was Chair of Scottish Women’s Aid.
Smart Works Edinburgh Chair Maggie Darling has said “We are delighted to welcome Amanda to the Smart Works Edinburgh Board of Trustees. Amanda brings with her an amazing amount of experience and huge enthusiasm for helping women fulfil their potential. Amanda has already proven herself to be proactive and approachable, and will be a huge asset to Smart Works.”
Since opening in August 2014, Smart Works Edinburgh have assisted almost 1000 women, providing work outfits from our stock of high-quality clothes donated by the public, local businesses and retailers. The styling advice and interview training we provide allows women to feel their best for interview, with 70% of women we see going on to secure employment within a month of their Smart Works Edinburgh appointment.
